Mayor Peyton Addresses U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs

Thursday, June 12, 2008 Jacksonville, Fla.

Mayor John Peyton addressed the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs today at 10 a.m. Mayor Peyton's comments were made during the committee's hearing on the  "Condition of our Nation's Infrastructure: Local Perspective from Mayors."

The mayor's remarks focused on two critical projects with tremendous regional and national impact: seaport transportation infrastructure and water infrastructure.  Mayor Peyton outlined how federal funding to support both the transportation network surrounding JAXPORT and septic tank elimination projects would help Jacksonville address these critical infrastructure challenges while allowing local resources to be allocated to our local priorities, primarily public safety.
