July 4th Boating Safety Awareness Initiative

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Marine Unit and DUI Unit in conjunction with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and U.S. Coast Guard will be conducting a boating safety awareness blitz (Operation Fireworks) on Friday July 4th, 2008. Additional sworn, uniformed officers will be on the waterways this evening, which is traditionally the busiest boating weekend of the year. The focus will be on boating safety awareness with special emphasis on impaired operators.

This initiative is scheduled to take place from 5pm-1am.
