Sex Crimes Unit

 

The Sex Crimes Unit consists of one lieutenant, two sergeants, 12 detectives and a secretary.  Detectives are tasked with the investigation of all felony sexual assaults, as well as crimes involving child pornography and lewd and lascivious acts.  The Sex Crimes Unit investigates  more than 2000 reported cases of alleged felony sex crimes each year, with a case clearance rate of 72%.  

 

The members of the Sex Crimes Unit work closely with the Special Assault Division of the State Attorney's Office to ensure successful investigation and prosecution of all felony sex crimes. The Sex Crimes Unit also works with several public and private organizations such as the Child Protection Team, the Department of Children and Families, the City of Jacksonville Victim Services and the Women's Center who provide forensic examinations, victim interviews as well as counseling for victims.
