Our Vision:

To be the leading organization dedicated to providing Hope, Comfort and Valuable Information to families experiencing a Traumatic Brain Injury with a loved one.

Mothers Against Brain Injury is a 501c3 non-profit organization created in 2004 out of compassion and empathy for families experiencing the sudden and catastrophic effects of a loved one suffering a moderate or severe Traumatic Brain Injury in Florida.

Being notified that a loved one has been transported in life threatening condition to a Trauma Center is both devastating and frightening. Your immediate thoughts are to get to the hospital as quickly as possible to be with your loved one. There isn’t time to think about packing for yourself and the enormity of what has just occurred leaves everyone in a fog of uncertainty and desperation. No family is ever prepared for this type of event.

Tracey Porter and her family experienced such an event when her 16 year old son suffered a severe brain injury in a car accident in 2004. Realizing that other families were going through this same experience she recognized a need that was not being met by any other agency to her knowledge.

By creating the Totes of Comfort & Hope Program, a unique and compassionate way to help families through this experience was born.

Large canvas tote bags filled with personal toiletries, comfort items, useful tools, information on brain injury and stories of hope and encouragement from others are lovingly packaged &kept on hand at all 21 Trauma Centers in Florida where they are handed personally to an immediate family member of any person suffering a moderate or severe Traumatic Brain Injury within the first 48 hours of arrival.
