
The Behavioral and Human Services Division provides comprehensive counseling, case management , referral, and victim advocacy services for victims of crimes. The services are intended to help reduce the trauma associated with crime victimization, and to facilitate recovery. The services are provided free of charge to all victims of crime and their significant others.
The Division also provides the following specialized programs and services:
- Sexual Assault Response Center (SARC) for victims of sexual assault
- Outreach to the Elderly and Disabled
- Intimate Violence Enhanced Services Team (INVEST), for victims of domestic violence
- After Hours hospital emergency room counseling services
- Victim Rights information and advocacy
- Support groups for the survivors of violent crimes
- 24 hour hotline for crime victims and their significant others
- Volunteers who provide support for crime victims
The Victim Services Center works closely with the Mayor's Victims' Assistance Advisory Council (VAAC) to insure close collaboration with community agencies and service providers, as well as to improve the rights of crime victims.
