Property Tax Amendments
Approved on November 4
On November 4, Florida voters approved three amendments (Amendments 3, 4 and 6) relating to property taxes. The amendments were recommended by the Florida Taxation and Budget Reform Commission and address wind resistant and renewable energy source improvements made to property, lands set aside for conservation and how working waterfront property is appraised.

Additional Property Tax Laws 
On Jan. 29, 2008, Florida voters passed another constitutional amendment changing property tax laws in Florida.
The new law (Amendment One)provides the following: An Additional Homestead Exemption, Portability of the "Save Our Homes" Benefit from one homestead to another, a Cap on Annual Assessment Increases of Non-Homesteaded Property and a Tangible Personal Property Exemption. File for Homestead Exemption The Property Appraiser's Office is now accepting homestead exemption and portability applications for the 2009 Tax Roll.
If you purchased and moved into your home after January 1, 2008, you may file now until March 1, 2009 for a homestead exemption and portability.
E-mail applications are encouraged and available from the link at the top of this section. Attach the signed form with scans of all other required documentation to your e-mail and send to PACustServ@coj.net. You may also file in person at the Property Appraiser's Office, 231 East Forsyth Street, Suite 260, by fax at (904) 630-2525 or by mail.

New Property Values on the Web
The 2008 certified property values have been updated on our web site.
When searching for property in Duval County, you will see both the certified 2008 value and an "In Progress" value for the 2009 Tax Roll. The "In Progress" values are subject to change.
Tax Bills Mailed Tax bills for 2008 were mailed by the Duval County Tax Collector on October 31.

More Property Data Now Available Need data? Check out the new Real Estate & Tangible Property Search on this web site.
In addition to our Basic Search, you can now narrow searches and extract specific categories of information from the county's property data base using the new Advanced Search. This includes our "In Progress" working numbers. (Please note: These are subject to change.)
Using this new Advanced Search, you can search for property based on a number of factors such as property type, sales data and price, property location and size just to name a few.
Data can be also downloaded in two formats:
Excel and comma-delimited text.
The look of our Basic Search has changed but its operation has not. While we always welcome your feedback, we are especially eager to hear from you as we all get accustomed to the new search options. If you have questions on comments, please e-mail PAAdmin@coj.net.

Need to change your tax roll mailing address? You can verify the information on your property by looking it up online using our Property Search. To update your mailing address we must have a written request, signed by the property owner. Email requests are accepted provided the email address matches the property ownership. (Agents-see section below.) Please use the on-line form and send to: PACustServ@coj.net for homestead properties or PAOLREC@coj.net for non-homestead properties.
Agents sending a request on behalf of a property owner must submit either the change of address form or a letter of authorization signed by the property owner. This is accepted by email.
