The Building Inspection Division is responsible for ensuring that existing and future developments and construction comply with Jacksonville's building ordinances. It helps ensure the safety of buildings by enforcing building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other related city codes.

Thomas Goldsbury, P.E. C.B.O. (Certified Building Official), has served the City of Jacksonville since 1992. He began managing projects for the contract administration section of the Engineering Division, moved up to engineer manager working directly for the director of Public Works and has been the chief of the Building Inspection Division since 1998. Prior to working for the city, he had been involved with on-site construction of various projects, including Jacksonville's Pre-Trial Detention Facility, power plants and bulk material handling machinery and systems. He holds both a Bachelor and Master of Science degree in civil engineering from The Pennsylvania State University.New Satellite Office - Ed Ball Building

The Clerk of Courts has opened a satellite office in the Ed Ball Building at 214 North Hogan St., Room 216. This office is able to record notice of commencements along with any other documents that need to be recorded by the Clerk of Courts.
