Duval County has made disaster preparation information easier to access through "Ready Duval" – the Emergency Preparedness Division's new Web site. It offers essential information on personal and business disaster preparedness relating to storms, wildfires, hazardous materials, blackouts and more.

Ready Duval is accessible at www.coj.net, the City of Jacksonville's Web site. Just click on the Ready Duval icon. 

"The Ready Duval site offers residents and businesses information to help ensure personal responsibility in preparing for potential disasters of all types," said Marty Senterfitt, division chief of the Emergency Preparedness Division within the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department. "We want to raise awareness about the variety of threats and risks we face year-round, not just during hurricane season. Ready Duval also encompasses elements of homeland security, information about citizen-involved groups that are directly involved in emergency response and more."

The city's Emergency Preparedness Division is responsible for disaster preparedness in accordance with and in support of the national, state and local emergency plans and programs. The division also serves as the Duval County Emergency Management agency overseeing the Emergency Operations Center and the county's Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.
