The Accounting Division, headed by the City Comptroller, keeps spending in line with budgets through an extensive general accounting system. To accomplish its mission, the division conducts regular pre-audits over expenditures, including the payroll, to make sure funds are disbursed properly. The division also maintains current audit control over cash receipts.
