Ten Tips for Parents Traveling with Children
- If you are traveling with a car seat, make sure it is buckled in correctly and facing the right direction.
- Make sure all children are wearing seatbelts at all times.
- Always pack enough reading materials, toys, paper, pencils and crayons to keep everyone busy.
- Be sure to have healthy snacks available to munch on.
- Have plenty of paper towels and wipes for eating food and unexpected spills.
- Stop periodically at rest stops to stretch and use the restroom.
- Bring your child's medical cards in case of emergency.
- Pack an extra set of clothes for everyone.
- Engage your children in conversations about what they see (the state, cars and license plates, flowers, bridges, etc).
- If you can, give them some money of their own to spend. If children have their own money to spend on vacation, they can learn the value of spending wisely.
