Clay Yarborough grew up in Jacksonville and attended the University of North Florida where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. While in high school, and operating television cameras at City Council meetings, Clay became interested in public service. In November 2000, at age 19, he ran for a seat on the Duval Soil and Water Conservation Board, was elected, and served up until the time he was elected to the City Council.
In 2001, Clay was appointed to the Greater Arlington / Beaches Citizens Planning Advisory Committee by former Mayor John Delaney. He has also served on the Sheriff's Advisory Council and the Greater Arlington Civic Council. Most recently, Clay was inducted into the Arlington Rotary Club as an honorary member.
Clay realizes Jacksonville's most important issues are public safety and crime reduction, being proactive when it comes to infrastructure improvements, ensuring that city government is operating as fiscally sound as possible, and working hard to improve the overall quality of life for current and future residents of our city.
Clay is proud to represent District 1, which includes most of the Arlington area, as well as the Regency Square, Fort Caroline, and Hidden Hills areas. Clay works at UPS as a recruiter and he also attends First Baptist Church.
